Harrogate Fair Trade Shop has been trading for over 30 years and our sole aim has always been to assist in the alleviation of poverty through trade, by selling and promoting fair trade products. We are a tiny shop, housed in the former porch of St Peter’s Church in the centre of Harrogate and staffed by volunteers. We make the most of the space we have and are bursting with a huge variety of fair trade products from around the world. Because we’re such a small shop we have lots of little products such as jewellery, keyrings, trinket boxes and notebooks so that we can cram a lot in. We also have a wide variety of bags, purses and scarves; handmade cards, ceramics, decorative and recycled items, plus a selection of food, including lots of varieties of chocolate.
We are a registered charity and a member of BAFTS, the British Association of Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers and buy most of our products from organisations who are also members or who are affiliated with the WFTO. New customers are surprised at what they find in the shop and regularly exclaim: ‘you have so many wonderful things in here!’
